Barbara Alice Moir

Barbara Alice Moir was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1945. She grew up in Glen Spey, in Sullivan County, NY where she received her first drawing and painting instruction from her mother, Adele Moir, a talented plein air painter.

Barbara studied painting in New York City with John Foote, Professor of Humanities, School of Visual Arts, N.Y. Her technical development was influenced by artist and author Helen Van Wyk (1930-1994), Rock Port, Massachusetts as well as by nationally known artists such as Richard Schmid through the Salmagundi Art Club in New York City.

Barbara’s representational style contains strong color, texture, and light. A small percentage of her landscapes depict European scenes, but most are rural farm and woodlands from the Catskill, Delaware, and Hudson Regions of the Northeastern United States. She also paints urban nocturnal streets with complex patterns of light. These have been exhibited throughout the New York Metropolitan area since 2006.

Barbara has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ithaca College School of Music and a Masters Degree from SUNY, Cortland, NY.

She belongs to the following art organizations:
